Dengue drug maker receives enquiries from abroad
The increase in cases of dengue has created an opportunity for Bengaluru-based Micro Labs that has introduced a medicine to increase platelet count. Although it has officially been launched this month, the company has already sold 200,000 units of the medicine, Caripill, and is ready to launch it in syrup form for children. The company has got supply enquiries from Indonesia and Malaysia too.It started marketing the medicine from July and claims to have conducted trials on 250 patients, adding that none of them needed a platelet transfusion. Priced at Rs 375 for a five day course of 15 tablets (one unit), Caripill is being marketed primarily in South Indian states and Delhi national capital region and Maharashtra, where large cases of dengue have been reported.
